Jonathan Siegler

Jonathan Siegler is an executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer of Bluescape Resources.

Siegler’s prior achievements include helping to transform TXU Corp. from a regulated monopoly to an industrial energy company. This turnaround created more than $30 billion of shareholder value, and delivered its shareholders 70% annualized returns (7th best in the S&P 500 during the same time period). As senior vice president of Corporate Strategy and M&A, Siegler developed the industrial focused strategy and business plans that drove top decile cost, utilization and reliability leading to a 300% increase in free cash flow and a 450% increase in EPS. He led the allocation of capital from sales of $6 billion of non-core assets that helped to concentrate shareholder value and helped TXU raise more than $5 billion capital to restore financial flexibility. Siegler architected TXU’s new build generation strategy and developed the business model for TXU to grow profitably outside of Texas. Finally, he helped to lead the sale of TXU to a sponsor group consisting of KKR, TPG and Goldman-Sachs in the largest LBO in history.

Prior to joining TXU, Siegler was an engagement manager in the Houston office of McKinsey & Company. During his three years as a consultant, he led work across multiple functions including strategy, finance and operations. His focus was mainly on energy and industrial services. Prior to McKinsey, he served as a lieutenant aboard the nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735B), qualifying as a naval nuclear engineer. During his four and a half years on board, he received three Navy and Marine Corps achievement medals for superior service.

Siegler previously served on the board of directors of Current Communications Group, a company focused on commercializing the broadband-over-power-line (BPL) technology.

Siegler graduated with distinction with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1994. He then graduated from Stanford in 1996 with a master’s degree in electrical engineering.

Siegler, his wife and daughter reside in Dallas.
